Digitalisation of nursing homes: incorporating Artificial Intelligence into the day-to-day running of social and healthcare centres

The digitalisation of nursing homes is the great challenge facing the social and healthcare sector. The possibilities offered by technology are infinite and its features are increasingly advanced, so its application in this field is crucial. Not only will it offer a better quality of life to users, but it will also facilitate the work of the team of professionals who care for them.

As a manufacturer of critical communications systems for more than 20 years, at ALCAD Facility we put technology at the service of these centres. Thus, we lead the new paradigm with solutions that already integrate Artificial Intelligence to anticipate problems.

Technology has been part of our daily lives for years. Every morning we pick up our mobile phone, turn on our computer or look at our tablet to check the weather, send a whatsapp, upload a photo to our favourite social network, read the latest news or shop online. In the specific case of nursing homes, digital transformation must be able to address new challenges and future trends for the sector, as the pandemic situation has highlighted.

Efforts in the digitalisation of nursing homes should focus on improving care for people and the implementation of technology and innovation. In a way that allows for an increase in the quality of life of users and a faster and more efficient management of available resources.

This need is already reflected in the European Union’s Next Generation plan, which emphasises the promotion of projects that bring about structural change and have a direct impact on society and sustainability.

Artificial Intelligence in the digitisation of nursing homes

How could it be otherwise, in ALCAD Facility we are no strangers to this evolution of society and this need for digitisation of nursing homes. Every day, we strive to lead the technological change that allows us to offer an increasingly personalised attention to nursing home users.

Our position as a manufacturer of critical solutions for more than 20 years makes this task much easier for us, as we are able to listen to our customers’ requirements and adapt to them at the time of production.

In 2008 we were the first to create a 100 % IP patient-nurse system. Now, we are once again at the forefront of another paradigm shift, convinced that the future in the securitisation of spaces in social and healthcare centres lies in incorporating Artificial Intelligence into existing user-nurse communication systems.

With this premise in mind, we present to the market ACCURO.AI, the server-based Artificial Intelligence solution with proprietary algorithms, fully integrated into our ACCURO patient-nurse communication platform.

With no need for internet connection, ACCURO.AI provides high value-added services, facilitating the digitisation of nursing homes. Thanks to its powerful software, it provides the centre with advantages ranging from automatic monitoring of people to prevention by anticipating problems.

Digitisation of nursing homes with 100% secure working environments

ACCURO.AI offers nursing staff natural working tools, with increasingly smaller and more powerful devices, with multiple functions and more integrated into the décor. These features will create a friendly and warm atmosphere, with exquisite and minimalist designs that help to create a sense of comfort.

It is, therefore, a tool that increases the safety of the user and optimises the working time of professionals, while reducing operating costs. And all this in a non-invasive way.

In addition, ACCURO.AI is installed on the centre’s own server, so it does not require an internet connection or the contracting of cloud services (Azure, DataFlow, AWS, etc.). This is a decisive advantage, as it protects the centre from possible cyber-attacks from the outside, making it possible to create a 100% secure working environment.

ACCURO.AI currently has two of the most important devices:

  • The wandering control system with Artificial Intelligence. Integrated in the Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), which allows patients to be located in the most human and efficient way, as it does not require physical elements (wearables or tags).
  • The voice assistant with Artificial Intelligence, which makes it possible to launch an emergency call without having to press any button. By simply saying the word ‘ACCURO’, the device goes on alert, waiting for a verbal instruction from the user or professional, who no longer has to press any buttons.
